Reindeer InformationThe reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) is a member of the deer (Cervidae) family. It is also called caribou. The reindeer can be found in Northern Asia, Europe, Siberia, Alaska, Canada and Greenland. It inhabits the cold tundra and mountain areas. The reindeer has a solid muscular body, and a thick coat. The coat provides excellent insulation. Males tend to be larger than females. Both males and females carry antlers. Reindeer shed their antlers every year. Today, reindeer are herded by many people in Europe and Asia.
